In order to avoid ending up on YouTube’s “Working café” and “Music for office” 5-hour playlists, we would like to offer you a well-thought-out playlist that consists of international bands, both classic and fairly new to the world of music. All you have to do is open this playlist, when you start working!



  • Portugal. The Man 

Melding elements of psychedelia and classic rock with a dash of modern pop and an eagerness to experiment with song structure, Portugal. The Man forged a singular sound through the voices of co-founders and multi-instrumentalists John Gourley and Zachary Carothers. 

  • Unknown Mortal Orchestra 

A psychedelic rock band led by New Zealand native singer-songwriter and guitarist Ruban Nielson.

  • Joywave

Joywave is an American indie rock band from Rochester, New York, formed in 2010. The band first became known for its collaboration with electronic music project Big Data, “Dangerous”!

  • Alt-j

The quartet first started tinkering with minimal equipment in their dorm rooms, but soon their sound evolved into multi-layered melodies that mixed elements of indie pop, trip-hop, folk, dubstep, psychedelia and a capella harmonies. Their name is a reference to the keyboard shortcut for a delta – ∆ – sign (triangle, their favorite shape). 

  • twenty one pilots 

twenty one pilots’ music combines alt-rock, reggae, electronic music and rap and turns into one of the most unique, unclassifiable commercial sounds of the 2010s. 

  • Hot Chip 

Hot Chip are an English synth pop band formed in London in 2000. The group primarily produces music in the synth-pop and alternative dance genres, drawing influences from house and disco. 

  • Planet Funk 

Planet Funk is an Italian electronic band, that became popular after releasing their first single “Chase the Sun”. Fun fact: the melody is borrowed from Ennio Morricone’s tune “Alla Luce Del Giorno”, off the score of the 1969 film Metti, uni sera a cena. 

  • Kaleo 

Kaleo is an Icelandic blues rock band; their single “Way Down We Go” was certified double platinum in the US and reached number on on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in August 2016. 

  • Years & Years 

A solo project of British singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Olly Alexander. His music is described as electropop, mixing R&B and 1990s house elements. 

  • SOFI TUKKER

An American musical duo based in Florida consisting of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. Their album Treehouse was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album. 

  • The Brinks 

A musical partnership of Matt Friedman and Scott Mellis. Since the release of their debut EP Temporary Love, the alternative duo racked up over 35 million streams for the record’s itle track and graced the #1 position on Spotify’s Best of Ultimate Indie playlist. 

  • Postmodern Jukebox

A rotating musical collective founded by arranger and pianist Scott Bradlee in 2011. PMJ is known for reworking popular modern music into different vintage genres, especially early 20th century forms such as swing and jazz. 

  • Gus Gus 

An electronic music band from Iceland. Their music is primarily classified as techno, trip hop, and house music, however, the band has experimented with other styles. 

  • Oh Wonder

Oh Wonder are an English alt-pop duo, consisting of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht. They recorded and released one song a month for a year, starting in September 2014. The album Oh Wonder has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. 

  • Massive Attack 

Massive Attack are an English electronic band formed in 1988 in Bristol; they helped kick off a new era in electronic music creating a hybrid of hip-hop and downtempo. 

  • The Kooks

An English indie rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton. They have experimented in several genres including rock, Britpop, reggae, ska, funk and hip-hop. 

  • Franz Ferdinand

Franz Ferdinand (googles together with Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria) are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. The band is one of the more popular post-punk revival bands.

  • Hooverphonic 

Hooverphonic is a Belgian band that formed in October 1995. Though originally categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where they could no longer be described as a lone genre, but rather encompass alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and a mixture of others.

  • Electric Six 

Electric Six is a six-piece American rock band formed in 1996 in Michigan. Their music was described as a combination of garage, disco, punk rock, new wave, and metal.

  • Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire is a Canadian indie rock band. They play guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, synthesizer, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin and hurdy-gurdy, and take most of these instruments on tour.

  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs 

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The Yeah Yeahs’ style has been described as “an art-rock trio who made an edgy post-punk”.

  • OK Go

OK Go is an American rock band originally from Chicago. OK Go’s music style has generally been regarded as alternative rock, power pop, pop rock, indie rock,and indie pop.

  • Foals 

Foals are an English rock band from Oxford, formed in 2005. Foals is classified as an indie rock, alternative rock, dance-punk, math rock, art rock, post-rock, post-punk, art punk and indie pop band.

  • Florence + the Machine 

Florence + the Machine (stylised as Florence + the Machine) are an English indie rock band that formed in London in 2007, consisting of vocalist Florence Welch, keyboardist Isabella Summers, guitarist Rob Ackroyd, harpist Tom Monger, and a collaboration of other musicians. And “it’s always darkest before the dawn” 😉

  • Vulfpeck 

Vulfpeck is an American funk group founded in 2011. The band’s production style is modeled after live TV performances of the past, such as The Midnight Special, The Old Grey Whistle Test, and Beat-Club. The band aims for a simple and minimal sound where each instrument contributes and does not dominate.

  • Milky Chance

Milky Chance is a German rock band originating in Kassel. Their first single, “Stolen Dance”, was released in April 2013, topping the charts in several countries.
